Winner of The Block All Stars Kitchen Challenge revealed
Sydney, 12 March 2013 — Proving they have the same winning formula as the 2011 series, Josh and Jenna took out The Block All Stars kitchen challenge by impressing the judges with their elegant and sophisticated style which incorporated a 3.5 metre marble benchtop and cabinetry in White Satin and Nocturne Oak.
This Freedom Kitchen had all the hallmarks of a top designer kitchen, prompting the judges to call it world class. “We didn’t skimp anywhere in the kitchen, believing you should always buy the best quality possible in your kitchen,” says Jenna. The palette of satin white and timber together with the Gitani marble benchtop in Calacutta proved to be a winning design choice.
Paying homage to the heritage of the building, Phil and Amity blended traditional with contemporary, continuing the home’s Hamptons theme. “Shaker Doors in Matt White featuring half moon handles provide an elegant setting for the custom rangehood and pot belly stove to become heroes of the room,” says Amity. The Portofiino solid surface benchtop in Bianco is a practical work surface with a thick 52mm profile.
For Dan and Dani, a kitchen that complemented their beachside location was the order of the day. “We chose cabinetry in Iceland White, handle-less doors and an integrated fridge for a crisp look,” says Dani. The stunning 40mm honed marble benchtop in Statuario piques interest whilst the island bench, with built-in wine rack, features a custom designed Portofiino timber niche that converts from storage display to insert for the purpose built timber dining table. A clever way to extend entertaining space!
Over in the boy’s house, Mark and Duncan were determined to design a kitchen that was as far away as ‘beige’ as you could get. “Immediate visual impact and a sense of functionality were paramount,” says Mark. Their kitchen stands out from the crowd with its bold combination of Alaskan Gloss cabinetry in White and Violet, fitted with a thick 52mm Portofiino solid surface benchtop. Cube overhead cupboards in gloss are bang on trend and the inclusion of pull out pantry baskets are a brilliant solution for maximising access and storage.
When asked for their top kitchen renovation tip, Jenna said, “Work with a professional team like Freedom Kitchens who can make the layout useable, spacious and functional. They see possibilities that can make your money go further!”
